Lots of owners are to lazy to keep these records but should.

The timing chain if cared for properly should last for as long as you own this wonderful Jeep Grand Cherokee.I have a jeep grand cherokee 1998 with 70000 miles how can i know if i need to change the time chain?225,697 and still original in mine, regular maintenance does wondersI have a jeep grand cherokee 1998 with 70000 miles how can i know if i need to change the time chain?Does it run fine? Then you don't need to change the timing chain.

They're considered a lifetime part. Unless it breaks (unusual) or you somehow manage to stretch the heck out of it (also unusual), you won't need to replace it.

If you need to replace it, there will be absolutely no question about whether you need to replace it. It won't run or the timing will be ridiculously bad.
