Recently my 6 year relationship with my girlfriend has ended (she dumped me - none of it was my idea) and i'm finding myself evaluating all aspects of my life.
At the moment I'm living back with parents and just recovering from the break-up, but i've started to realise i'd put a lot of my goals on the backburner for the last 6 years.
One of the big things I wanted to do was open a chain of shops and for one reason or another I never got round to sorting it all out.
At the moment i'm slightly destitute - i've lost my apartment, furniture, car, my current job has suddenly started going wrong (and i've got bored of it anyway) and obviously i've lost my GF. I don't actually feel depressed, but just a little sad at how everything has changed suddenly within the space of 4 weeks!
Do you think it's possible for somebody to make a massive comeback and say in a year or two's time to be achieving the things you want at 31, or do you think at 31 i'm past my peak??
As I say it's very unlike me to question myself like that but I just wanted some other opinions.

I had a similar experience of stopping a relationship, moving out, moving to another town and starting a new job all at once. I even lost the cat!
It seems so alien to think of now as I managed to build up again and achieve more than I ever did before. it seems to me that there are two different kind of changes, the first kind just happens, the second kind: you have to work for.
if it is meant for you to open a chain of shops, you麓ll do it. if it is not, you won麓t. you need to work towards your goal, of course, but even that happens as if it were by itself. many things i have %26quot;achieved%26quot; in my life, i didn't achieve at al, they just happened. i麓m not the only one observing this in my and other peoples life.
the other kind of change is slow and demands a lot of engagement and attention. changing your character, the way you usually respond to life, people, circumstances, is very ardous. this is the way of self-discovery. however, it is exactly because it is so ardous, that it is so much more important than the success which came by itself.
it is not so important whether you wil open a chain of shops, there are already plenty. but people who work hard in order to understand themselves are very rare.
