Nissan ALMERA 2001 1.5 petrol, misfiring on motorway + check engine light out?

Hi

I bought a Nissan Almera 1.5 2001 model from an auction, I noticed it was misfiring a little on the motorway and when I press the accelerator down hard, it likes misses a beat.

I had a mechanic look and he said the check engine bulb is out or removed and a sensor on the side of the engine has been changed recently.

He thinks the timing chain has stretched causing the misfiring (a common fault) and because of the light and the changed sensor reckons the owner knew this thats why he auctioned it with 4 weeks tax and MOT as the work will cost 500 pounds, so advisees to put the car back into the auction.

Is there any cheaper solution? can I get the light back on some how?

any suggestions appreciatedNissan ALMERA 2001 1.5 petrol, misfiring on motorway + check engine light out?Your mechanic is spot on with his diagnosis. There is no cheap fix as the sensor has already been replaced, and the bulb isolated to %26quot;hide%26quot; the problem at the auction.Hope this helps
