The Church teaches that through the guidance of the Holy Spirit the fundamental truths in the bible are retained through the centuries. Now the Church is divine but it is made up of flawed humanity so mistakes were probably made. Regarding the first humans and their histories, this information was given to Moses and he was the one that wrote them down or passed the stories down through the generations. The Church has the bible and sacred tradition which serve to help the faithful interpret and preserve the divine truths. Mistakes can still be made but our faith in the guidance of the Holy Spirit will lead us to where God wants us to be. Perhaps as long as we still get the big picture, little errors are irrelevant.
