Wash the bike, then spray the chain with WD40. Let it dry and then lube the chain with a quality chain lube. Inspect the air filter, it may not need cleaning, but I usually clean and service it after each ride/race. I also change the oil after each ride/race, you can go longer, but I wouldn't go longer than 3 or 4 rides/races with out changing the oil. Check all the nuts and bolts, controls, cables and brakes.
Before you ride, bleed the air off the forks, adjust the air pressure in your tires and your suspension settings according to the terrain you will be riding in.
Your manual is going to recommend replacing the rings every six hours of use or so. I prefer to keep up with the compression readings, my rule of thumb is 120 p.s.i. I usually rebuild the top end every winter during the off season so that I start the new season with a fresh top end.
Basically just keep a close eye on things. You can usually see a problem developing and preventive maintenance is much cheaper than repairing something that breaks due to negligence.What maintance should I do on my new YZ125?Well first of all its a 2-stoke so u want to buy a pipe for it (FMF Fatty)

What maintance should I do on my new YZ125?2 strokes mate a whole different kettle of fish.Unlike a four stroke which uses oil to lube and fuel to burn, a 2 stroke uses the two together.
2 Strokes reguire oiling as often as fueling, very good spark plugs every 500 - 800 miles, and also (from my given years on the planet) a full top end rebuild every 1500 miles and a full engine over haul approx 5000 miles.
2 strokes can make a bucket load of horse power from a small size engine. Your YZ (unresticted) can put out over 40 BHP. That may not alot compared to a standard road going GSXR 1000 street bike, but on a small [ lightweight ] 125 with no extra bulk, it can be very very fast.
